《2025 Global Award for Sustainable Architecture: Architecture Is Construction》
Sustainable architecture is no longer just a technical indicator of energy saving and carbon reduction, but a profound reflection on lifestyle, social responsibility and design values.
2006 saw the creation of the Global Award for Sustainable Architecture, which annually recognizes five architects or teams who, through innovative and participatory approaches, are committed to more equitable and sustainable development and to responding to social needs. sustainable development through innovative and participatory approaches and by responding to the needs of society.
永續建築，不再只是節能減碳的技術指標，而是一場對生活方式、社會責任與設計價值的深刻反思。
2006年創立的全球永續建築獎每年會表彰五位建築師或團隊，他們透過創新且參與式的方法，致力於更公平永續的發展，並積極回應社會需求。
Echoing this year's Venice Biennale, this year's Global Sustainable Architecture Award focuses on the core theme of “Architecture Is Construction” and is subdivided into three main points: Territorialize, Rehabilitate, Experiment.
本屆全球永續建築獎呼應今年威尼斯雙年展，聚焦於「建築即建設」此一核心主題，並細分為三大重點：在地化、更新、實驗。
在地化（Territorialize）
Territorialization is the foundation of sustainable architecture, emphasizing that architecture must respond to the local customs, climatic conditions and social habits. If these local factors are ignored, the building will be as out of place as a container rising from the ground, and may cause cultural disruption and ecological waste by forcibly transplanting external resources and design methods. True localization is demonstrated through the use of local building materials to reduce the carbon footprint of transportation, passive design that responds to the local climate, and co-creation with the local community to strengthen community identity and cultural sustainability.
在地化是永續建築的根本，強調建築須深度回應所在地的民俗風情、氣候條件與社會習慣。若忽略這些在地因素，建築將如拔地而起的容器般格格不入，並可能因強行移植外來資源與設計方法，造成文化斷裂與生態浪費。真正的在地化，展現在運用當地建材以減少運輸碳足跡、因應在地氣候的被動式設計，以及與當地社區共同創作，藉此強化社區認同與文化永續性。

更新（Rehabilitate）
In today's world of limited building resources and saturated urban space, rehabilitation is more environmentally and culturally valuable than reconstruction. Rehabilitation not only extends the life of buildings, but also revitalizes existing spaces in innovative ways, giving them new life with social and ecological functions. For example, transforming unused spaces into shared spaces with social functions not only gives new life and functions to the space, but also mends social relationships and local memories.
在建築資源有限、都市空間飽和的今日，更新比重建更具環境與文化價值。更新不僅延長建築物壽命，更以創新的方式活化既有空間，賦予其具社會與生態功能的新生命。例如，將閒置的空間轉化為具社會功能的共享場域，這種作法不僅賦予空間新的生命與功能，也修補社群關係與地方記憶。

實驗（Experiment）
In the face of climate crises and urban challenges, existing building systems and models often appear inadequate to cope with future changes. Experimentation encourages architects to think outside the box, for example by experimenting with 3D printing or using local materials in new ways. These experiments not only expand the role of architecture as a medium for educational, medical or cultural transformation, but also lay the foundation for future development, even if the results are not perfect.
面對氣候危機與都市挑戰，現有建築系統與模式常顯得不足以應對未來變化。實驗精神鼓勵建築師跳脫常規，例如嘗試3D列印或以新穎方式運用在地材料。這些實驗不僅擴展了建築的角色，使其成為教育、醫療或文化轉型的媒介，即使結果不盡完美，也為未來發展奠定了基礎。
Sustainability is not a static standard, but a dynamic design process of continuous adjustment and response. Architecture should not be just a pile of structures, but a profound dialogue about culture, nature and the future.
Rooted in the land, mending the present, embracing the unknown. This is the essence of the three core concepts of sustainable architecture, namely “Territorialize, Rehabilitate, Experiment”, which guides architects to build a profound relationship with the land, the community, and even the future.
永續不是靜態的標準，而是一種動態、不斷調整與回應的設計過程。建築，不應只是結構的堆砌，而是一場關於文化、自然與未來的深刻對話。
根植土地、修補當下、擁抱未知。 這正是永續建築「在地化、更新、實驗」三大核心理念的精髓，指引著建築師們建構與土地、社群、乃至未來深刻連結的關係。
